A day of tears, laughter and everything in-between.

Leaving home was hard and as I locked the doors and walked away, the tears just came out of nowhere. Carolyn & Kate, I thought of you and how many times I chuckled at your "easy tears". I joined the "easy tears" club this morning. I'm glad that part is behind me.

Once we were well on our way, the sorrow of leaving my beloved comfort zone began to fade and the foundation of a new comfort zone began to take shape.

From the familiar streets of downtown Prescott and tall pine forests of Flagstaff my trusty faded Mustang, loaded to the hilt, carried us thru 3 states today before we let her park her weary self in Amarillo, Texas.

I began the first driving shift...first stop, breakfast just outside of Winslow, AZ. A hearty bowl of oatmeal with brown sugar and raisins for me and sweet cream pancakes for Dave (of course!)at a Love's truck stop. Needed the oatmeal comfort food after the traumatic tears earlier. :-) At a noon fill-er-up stop Dave takes over and it's his turn to take the wheel....I take a power nap in the sunshine. Instead of a lunch break we do a quick rest stop snack break and down some almonds and thanks to Jenn wolf down a couple of cookies. Onward David drives til we get about and hour from Amarillo & I take us the rest of the way.

GPS "Shirley" (ya know..the chick GPS voice) guides us to a a Holiday Inn Express where a rather annoying young man lets us know they are VERY busy but he can put us in a room for the night for $105, to which we say...uhhh...nope, see ya'. Back to consult with Shirley, this time suggesting she refer us to a less pricey Hampton Inn, where we are now comfy and cozy, catching up on emails and such.

NOW, I'm heading to the bathtub for a MUCH NEEDED soak!!!

Ahhhhhhhh...........a bathtub.....................
