As
the Holidays wind down the Snow Birds gather.
Here
they come! Diesel pushers, gasoline
powered motorhomes, 5th wheels, toy haulers and travel trailers are
rolling in like there’s no tomorrow.
Most
likely because for some of these folks, they know they’re on the down side of
their tomorrows so they’re not wasting ANY time. They have places to go, things to see and do
before the warranties expire on their lifetimes.
As
a wet-behind-the-ears full-time RV’er newbie I can’t help but marvel at these “old
timers” in their 21st century covered wagons with trailers, cars,
pickups, vans, quads, scooters, motorcycles and side by sides in tow.
Of
course 99.9% of them have at least one dog.
I
watched a white-haired little ol’ lady back a massive 5th wheel into
a space that is hardly big enough to accommodate her house on wheels plus the
pick up that tows it while her male companion (perhaps hubby, perhaps not)
looked on.
She’s
my new hero! ;-)
Occasionally
there is a solo traveler.
More
times than not, they come in teams.
Partners
in adventure well versed in the ebb and flow of the gypsy lifestyle.
One
drives, the other directs.
Each
knowing what roles they and their partner are responsible for and seamlessly
performing those duties like a well-oiled perfectly timed machine.
If
politicians were as skilled in the synchronized way snowbirds fly together the
world would be a much better place.
Best
of all…
They
all wave in passing
They
all have a “hello” to share and a story or two or three or four…
They
all share the same belief that life’s short but adventures are plentiful and
there’s no time like the present to experience as many as you can get to!
Happy
Trails!
