Nothing soothes the Soul quite like
the uncomplicated bareness of the desert southwest.
Sun, wind, scrubby vegetation,
stickers, stones, sand and cacti surrounded by rough rocky jagged peaked
mountains.
To those who merely drive through
because of its initial harsh first impression, don’t be misled.
Scratch the surface and beneath it
all is a subtle very powerful magic.
But in order to appreciate it, you
must be still, very still.
Almost forget to breathe still.
Remember still?
The “just being” part of life?
No agenda.
No schedule.
No should-a-would-a-could-a burdens.
The part of Self most of us bury so
deep within day-to-day chaos that it’s uncomfortable to even think about
bringing it to the surface, much less crawl inside of it.
The lizards, snakes, road runners,
coyotes, buzzards and hummingbirds pay no mind to your letting your
vulnerabilities spill out all over the place.
It doesn’t change their world but it sure as heck will change yours!
The last 6 months have been an
upside-down, in-your-face roller coaster ride for us, filled with
the highest of highs, lowest of lows and most recently a grief beyond earthly
words.
And so we lay claim to our RV nomic lifestyle right to put tires in motion, pick a highway and get away from our day-to-day
and just “be” for a short spell.
In my almost 62 years I’ve finally come
to accept that I was never meant to be stationary, tethered by a single thread,
but rather born to follow that which calls me, feeds me, soothes me, challenges
me to take one more step beyond old landscapes and comfort zones.
A blessing and yet a curse because
for every new discovery to be sought out, something precious must be left
behind.
So we focus on that which lies
before us, think forward, remember how lucky we are and carry on.
...and what a life Miss Becky...what a life...
